Astillero del Guayas's Blanco Vidales proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 4th minute of the match, managed to save Astillero del Guayas from getting a goal against them. Sandro Galishoff received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Blanco Vidales tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 34 minutes into the match, Astillero del Guayas's goal looked a bit too open when Jonas Nalder came free, but Blanco Vidales reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Diego Carredano came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Astillero del Guayas fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Diego Carredano couldn't finish the play. 40 minutes into the match, Jonas Nalder had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Blanco Vidales. Astillero del Guayas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonas Nalder was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 44th minute, Fabio Schneider got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 46 minutes into the match, Leonhard Maier had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Blanco Vidales. Astillero del Guayas's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Leonhard Maier was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zaquiel Boñar made a kick off. Diego Carredano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diego Carredano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 95th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Fabio Auer having to interfere. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Austria had played much better football throughout.
