But to his dismay, Guga Trancoso quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. In the 7th minute, Viriato Moura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Serginho Nogueira was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. Serginho Nogueira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Viriato Moura in the 10th minute of play. Baturhan Oytun scored 2-1 in the 12th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 16 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Juninho Freitas came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, PIAUÍ FC's Juninho Freitas ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juninho Freitas in the 25th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Viriato Moura in the 26th minute of play forced PIAUÍ FC's goalkeeper Serginho Nogueira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Baturhan Oytun made the kick off in the second half. In the 58th minute of the match, Felipe Barreto got a very nice opportunity to score, but Serginho Nogueira was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. Gilvan Azevedo hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Serginho Nogueira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bartolomeu Dias, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal in the 97th minute to try and stop a shot by PIAUÍ FC's Baturhan Oytun. But to his dismay, Baturhan Oytun quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-4. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
