The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Belgium's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 12th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Leonardo Lane in the 16th minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 19 minutes of play, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Rhys Dimmock was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 23rd minute Leonardo Lane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Casper Claes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The corner led Zamalek FC's Davis Duff to fire away a dangerous shot which Casper Claes despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 27 minutes into the game, Yves Dervaux cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. After a defensive mix-up in Belgium's zone, Leonardo Lane stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Casper Claes came out of the goal and Leonardo Lane tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 93 minutes into the game, Lenny Clocheret was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Belgium's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Zamalek FC the free kick. After a rather tough play, Belgium's Lenny Clocheret got a free kick in the 93rd minute.
