Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lucio Siekkötter in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 17th match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Caetano Moreira to maneuver through the defense. In the 17th minute, Lei Feng Yan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. In the 21st minute, one of S.E.R. Caxias do Sul:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for S.E.R. Caxias do Sul. Esen Sanal had in the 23rdth minute some difficulties stopping Felipe Barreto's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Breno Vergílio got free with Wilson Amorim in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Esen Sanal showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Wilson Amorim was out of position in the 31 minute of play, and Lucio Siekkötter capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Lucio Siekkötter really showed his touch with that goal: 2-0. 39 minutes into the match, Portugal's Felipe Barreto sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Esen Sanal narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After 43 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Graciano Coutinho. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Portugal's Daniel Pimentel was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Esen Sanal in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Felipinho Amorim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 82nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipinho Amorim got free with Esen Sanal in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Esen Sanal got control of the ball when Felipinho Amorim tried to sneak it across the goal line.
