Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Racoviță in the 39th minute of the match. Gijsbert ter Kruimer recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 41st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 42nd minute of the match, managed to save Netherlands from getting a goal against them. When Wim Wilmes fell near the penalty area in the 43rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Netherlands's protests and gave Wim Wilmes a yellow card for diving instead. Wim Wilmes kicked well hit freekick during the 43rd minute of the match. Gustaaf Groeneveldt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half Netherlands were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match was over Netherlands could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Los Pumas de Ocaña S.A. throughout the match.
