Spectators: 38 (Terracing: 29, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Nelsinho Marinho started the match with the kick off. With a little luck, Palestra do Interior's Antônio Carlos Cavalcante got control of the ball when Ernesto Sanduru tried to sneak it across the goal line. After 5 minutes Palestra do Interior's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Eulalio Aragones who took care of the corner kick. In the 9th minute, Nelsinho Marinho ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Martin Ongile was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Pirani in the 12th minute of play forced Xeneizes's goalkeeper Martin Ongile to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 14 minutes of play, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Martin Ongile was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 17th minute, Robustiano Endura got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Ernesto Sanduru sent off a good shot on target. After 24 played minutes Palestra do Interior got a freekick which was hit by Peder Neira. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ronaldo Pirani in the 27th minute of play forced Xeneizes's goalkeeper Martin Ongile to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Atilano Feo hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Palestra do Interior's Ronaldo Pirani got a good chance for a goal in the 29th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Robustiano Endura could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Antônio Carlos Cavalcante made a huge save. After some careless play in the Xeneizes defense, Nelson Xavier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martin Ongile. The Xeneizes fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martin Ongile should have stopped the shot. Martin Ongile showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Marinho in the 39th minute of the match. After 42 played minutes Xeneizes got a freekick which was hit by Eulalio Aragones. Antônio Carlos Cavalcante was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Ernesto Sanduru showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-3 in the 47 minute of play. The Xeneizes players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Palestra do Interior were winning 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ernesto Sanduru made a kick off. In the 52nd minute, Nelsinho Marinho left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Palestra do Interior fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-4. In the 56th minute, Palestra do Interior's Zé Orella ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Martin Ongile. Martin Ongile yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. Martin Ongile made an important save on a dangerous shot by Nelsinho Marinho in the 63rd minute. Thanks to some nice moves Nelsinho Marinho could shoot a difficult shot in the 68th minute, which Martin Ongile however easily saved by the left post. 81 minutes into the game, Nelsinho Marinho recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Martin Ongile. Nelsinho Marinho showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-7. The audience thought a goal was coming when Nelsinho Marinho got free with Martin Ongile in the 86th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 87 played minutes Xeneizes got a freekick which was hit by Federico Crispo. Zé Orella struck a weak shot in the 89th minute. Martin Ongile didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Palestra do Interior. After 91 minutes of play, Palestra do Interior's Nelsinho Marinho made it 1-8 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Martin Ongile was left in no man's land by his defense there! 94 minutes into the match, Xeneizes's goalkeeper Martin Ongile had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nelsinho Marinho. When the match was over Palestra do Interior could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Xeneizes throughout the match.
