Arnout Reekers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Club Sportivo Quilmes's Pastor Firman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 30th minute of play. David Eikelkamp scored 1-2 in the 33rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Pastor Firman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Netherlands's David Eikelkamp quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Ludomir Witkowski, made in the 40th minute of the game. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sebastian Verón in the 45th minute of play. After 46 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Mathijn Doctor. After the first half Netherlands were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Gijsbert ter Kruimer was the one to do the kick off. Pastor Firman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 52nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's David Eikelkamp got a free kick in the 57th minute. After a defensive mix-up in Netherlands's zone, Leandro Fidalgo stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Arnout Reekers came out of the goal and Leandro Fidalgo tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Pastor Firman made a fantastic save in the 62nd minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. Club Sportivo Quilmes's Pastor Firman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 65th minute of the match, managed to save Club Sportivo Quilmes from getting a goal against them. Pastor Firman made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 72nd minute. In the 74th minute Edmílson Martins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.
