Egídio Couto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabio Schneider, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Austria's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Sandro Galishoff in the 36th minute. After some careless play in the THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA defense, Leonhard Maier kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Egídio Couto. The THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Egídio Couto should have stopped the shot.

Sandro Galishoff made a great header on Austria's corner, it was just that THESPA KUSATSU GUNMA's Egídio Couto managed to reach the ball for a save. Sandro Galishoff might have been able to make a better finish in the 88th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Egídio Couto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sandro Galishoff ran back to his position shaking his head. Fabio Schneider received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Egídio Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Leonhard Maier had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 93rd minute. Austria's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
