In the 24th minute, Téo Campidelis ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Arnout Reekers was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Tomé Oliveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gijsbert ter Kruimer to strike the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Netherlands's Lars Meesters slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tomé Oliveira. That made the score 1-1 after 53 minutes of play. In the 58th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Rua Ferreira Viana F.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick.
