When Hegedus Henrik came up free with the goalie in the 41st minute, the Hungary fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hegedus Henrik couldn't finish the play. 42 minutes into the game, Major Barna cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Cafu Trancoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Cafu Trancoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hegedus Henrik, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. After 46 played minutes Sport Clube Recife got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldão Perez. If Balazs Lajos had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After the first half Hungary were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Antal Valentin stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Balazs Lajos reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Cafu Trancoso. After having played for 63 minutes, Antal Valentin managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hungary's supporters crossed their fingers, but Antal Valentin was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cafu Trancoso acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 68th minute, took the ball on the long shot from Antal Valentin. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Trancoso having to interfere. With a little luck, Sport Clube Recife's Cafu Trancoso got control of the ball when Balazs Lajos tried to sneak it across the goal line. After some careless play in the Sport Clube Recife defense, Antal Valentin kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Cafu Trancoso. The Sport Clube Recife fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Cafu Trancoso should have stopped the shot. Hungary's Antal Valentin got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Antal Valentin had several of the Sport Clube Recife's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 82 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 0-6 score and a disappointed Cafu Trancoso as he didn't even see the shot coming. The crowd rose to their feet as Hungary's Antal Valentin slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Cafu Trancoso. That made the score 0-7 after 84 minutes of play. 87 minutes into the match, Sport Clube Recife's goalkeeper Cafu Trancoso had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Major Barna. 88 minutes into the game, Sandrinho do Nascimento was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sport Clube Recife's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hungary the free kick. In the 89th match minute, Sport Clube Recife was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sandrinho do Nascimento to maneuver through the defense. In the 90th minute Tales Meira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fodor Daniel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Antal Valentin fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cafu Trancoso having to interfere. Cafu Trancoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Major Barna in the 93rd minute of play. Hortêncio Barral kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. The crowd rose to their feet as Antal Valentin kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Cafu Trancoso. That made the score 0-8 in the 97 minute of play. The Sport Clube Recife fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Hungary were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
