When Gijsbert ter Kruimer came up free with the goalie in the 7th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Gijsbert ter Kruimer couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Fortinero hasta la muerte's Emilio Egoitz got a free kick in the 11th minute. In the 14th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Bartolo Sayvion came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Wim Wilmes. But to his dismay, Wim Wilmes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Fortinero hasta la muerte's Bartolo Sayvion played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 34th minute of play. After 43 minutes, Emilio Egoitz mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Fortinero hasta la muerte and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card.
