With an all-out effort, Spartak das Kaldas's Tommy Kahn threw himself towards the right post 14 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Juvenal Sanches, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Hélder Matias took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Sachs, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Chris Mergenthaler's late challenge caught a Spartak das Kaldas's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Chris Mergenthaler helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 24 minutes play. Chris Mergenthaler hit a great ball. When Spartak das Kaldas's Óscar Fontoura in the 25th minute got a chance for a shot 25th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. The supporters of Spartak das Kaldas booed when Germany was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 36 match minutes in a wonderful position. Adrian Dreifuss didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fabrício Antas's late challenge caught a Germany's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Fabrício Antas helped the player get up and apologised. Fabrício Antas hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Tommy Kahn made an important save on a dangerous shot by Óscar Fontoura in the 47th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Frank Sachs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sidónio Calheiros in the 55th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 57th minute, Sidónio Calheiros had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. After a rather tough play, Germany's Malte Schiele got a free kick in the 59th minute. Tommy Kahn didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Óscar Fontoura went, in the 60th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. 62 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Óscar Fontoura came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 64 minutes into the match, Spartak das Kaldas's goal looked a bit too open when Frank Sachs came free, but Hélder Matias reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Xavier Rangel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 81st minute Juvenal Sanches shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Frank Sachs got free with Hélder Matias in the 84th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some fancy dribbling in the 96th minute, Marcelo Almeida managed to get in a good position for a shot. Spartak das Kaldas's supporters rose to their feet, but Marcelo Almeida was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle went the supporters of Germany were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Spartak das Kaldas side.
