The supporters of Netherlands booed when GuateFortín was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Najarro didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 52nd minute of play forced GuateFortín's goalkeeper Nery Pumpido to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 53 minutes into the match, Wim Wilmes dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Nery Pumpido, 0-2. Fabio Huezo kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. GuateFortín made a substitution. Mario Gomez replaced Angel Alvarenga. Gijsbert ter Kruimer could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Nery Pumpido made a huge save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer made a great header on Netherlands's corner, it was just that GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido managed to reach the ball for a save. Netherlands's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
