Akis Stathakis took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Ilija Skugor. Ilija Skugor dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Aggelos Karaflas made in the 18th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Croatia's Dinko Stankovic. Anastasios Politakis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Toni Mauzer, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 30 minutes into the match, Akis Stathakis dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Ilija Skugor, 3-0. Toni Mauzer kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Croatia defense, Manos Papoutsiadis kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ilija Skugor. The Croatia fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ilija Skugor should have stopped the shot. Croatia's Damir Pongrac got a good chance for a goal in the 48th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Toni Mauzer made a kick off. The audience was convinced that Konstantinos Kavaliaratos's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ilija Skugor was relentless in the 55th minute of the game. Ilija Skugor made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Akis Stathakis in the 56th minute of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Toni Mauzer during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. P.A.O.K. Patras F.C. fully deserved thier win.
