Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Henrique Candal in the 2nd minute of play. Matos Velhos's Mike van Kampen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Felipe Barreto in the 9th minute of play. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heigo Luiga, who was totally free with the ball in the 11th minute. Felipe Barreto sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Mike van Kampen showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Caetano Moreira, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. In the 17th minute Caetano Moreira shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mike van Kampen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mike van Kampen came out of the goal in the 18th minute to try and stop a shot by Portugal's Felipe Barreto. But to his dismay, Felipe Barreto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After some careless play in the Matos Velhos defense, Viriato Moura kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mike van Kampen. The Matos Velhos fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mike van Kampen should have stopped the shot. Mike van Kampen showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viriato Moura in the 27th minute of the match. The corner led to Portugal's Viriato Moura getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. When the match had gone on for 34 minutes, Henrique Candal put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Wilson Amorim. In the 36th minute, Henrique Candal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 39th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Heigo Luiga got free with Wilson Amorim in the 40th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lisandro Vigil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Wilson Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Caetano Moreira hit a great ball. Henrique Candal struck a weak shot in the 47th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Matos Velhos.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Henrique Candal stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sabino Vilhena, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sabino Vilhena scored 3-2 in the 59th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Matos Velhos's Sabino Vilhena got a good chance for a goal in the 62nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sabino Vilhena in the 65th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 66 minutes had been played when some careless play by Portugal's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Heigo Luiga was slow to take the kick. During this time Matos Velhos's players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Heigo Luiga got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Wilson Amorim quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Henrique Candal in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Matos Velhos's Henrique Candal in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Portugal's goalie prevented a goal. 81 minutes into the game, Portugal's Viriato Moura nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Mike van Kampen made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-3. Matos Velhos made a substitution. Karl Nietlisbach replaced Henrique Candal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lee Beckford in the 88th minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Karl Nietlisbach in the 90th minute of the match. In the 93rd minute, Karl Nietlisbach ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-3. Mike van Kampen made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bartolomeu Dias in the 96th minute. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Matos Velhos fans cheered their team off the field, for while Portugal had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
