La Academia's Iwan Grocholski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lars Meesters in the 12th minute of play. In the 12th minute, Wim Wilmes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Walter White, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gong Peng Bo, who was totally free with the ball in the 20th minute. 22 minutes into the match, La Academia's goal looked a bit too open when Wim Wilmes came free, but Iwan Grocholski reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gong Peng Bo got free with Arnout Reekers in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 35th minute, Bas Tuitert hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 36th minute of the match Nemesio Marco shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt struck a weak shot in the 39th minute. Iwan Grocholski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Gong Peng Bo tried to sneak it across the goal line. 45 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Francisco Alberto Zañartu. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Francisco Alberto Zañartu was the one to do the kick off. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Gong Peng Bo in the 52nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnout Reekers saved Netherlands from getting behind. Nemesio Marco made a great header on La Academia's corner, it was just that Netherlands's Arnout Reekers managed to reach the ball for a save. Gijsbert ter Kruimer sent away a hard shot on goal in the 60th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in La Academia's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Iwan Grocholski came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 67 minutes play. Egbert Nijveldt hit a great ball. In the 68th minute of the match Nemesio Marco sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers skillfully saved the ball. After 71 minutes, Nemesio Marco mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Academia and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 70th minute of the game. One of La Academia:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Netherlands:s goal. Iwan Grocholski came out of the goal in the 73rd minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer. But to his dismay, Gijsbert ter Kruimer quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt got a free kick in the 77th minute. Gafur Onat hit a great freekick 82 minutes into the match. The supporters of Netherlands booed when La Academia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hugo Porta didn't get a good kick on the ball. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 91 minutes play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer hit a great ball. The La Academia fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Netherlands were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
