Iwan Grocholski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 10th minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Iwan Grocholski saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gong Peng Bo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 13th minute of the match, Francisco Alberto Zañartu got a very nice opportunity to score, but Casper Claes was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. In the 14th minute of the match La Academia got a corner. Belgium's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Nemesio Marco ran over to the corner to take the kick. Iwan Grocholski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sander Dermaut, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Belgium's defense didn't have a chance, in the 25th minute, when Francisco Alberto Zañartu scored to the left of an out of position Casper Claes, making the score, 1-1. 32 minutes into the match, Edward Vanderstraeten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Iwan Grocholski. La Academia's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Vanderstraeten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-2. Yves Dervaux struck a weak shot in the 36th minute. Iwan Grocholski didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Belgium. Gafur Onat made in the 42nd minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Francisco Alberto Zañartu. Walter White received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 43rd minute. Casper Claes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 46 minutes into the game, Belgium's Edward Vanderstraeten nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Iwan Grocholski made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-3. Disappointed in the 1-3 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Edward Vanderstraeten made the kick off in the second half. Hugo Porta made in the 58th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Putra Parios however managed to control. If Walter White had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Maxín Bacarreza hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Gong Peng Bo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Casper Claes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Casper Claes made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Alberto Zañartu in the 69th minute of play. La Academia were awarded a corner in the 73th minute after Belgium's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Nemesio Marco took the corner. After taking down the ball on La Academia's corner Maxín Bacarreza fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Casper Claes quite easily take care of the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edward Vanderstraeten got free with Iwan Grocholski in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Casper Claes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Francisco Alberto Zañartu, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Francisco Alberto Zañartu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The Belgium supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Belgium would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
