In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Maciej Cwojdak during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 30th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Oliverios Palma saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Oskitz Tendiero in the 32nd minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 33 minutes into the game, Wim Wilmes cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Oliverios Palma was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Gustaaf Groeneveldt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Oliverios Palma tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 38 minutes into the game, Oskitz Tendiero recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Arnout Reekers. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 3-2.

Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Oskitz Tendiero in the 56th minute of the match. Netherlands's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave SAS the free kick. Lars Meesters hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. The SAS support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
