If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as Leonardo Pernambucano kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Tommy Kahn. That made the score 1-0 in the 20 minute of play. Tommy Kahn stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jürgen Klinsmann's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. In the 31stth minute of the game Frank Sachs who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Palmares Futebol Clube's Leonardo Paz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Albin Holweck hit a great freekick 34 minutes into the match. In the 43rd minute, Frank Sachs got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Albin Holweck charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Albin Holweck the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 46th minute of the match Leonardo Pernambucano shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tommy Kahn showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jürgen Klinsmann to strike the kick off in the second half. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Leonardo Pernambucano in the 57th minute of the match. In the 68th minute, Albin Holweck had to be helped off the field due to a pulled leg muscle. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Acep Abidin during the 68th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Germany's Rolf Rothberg was substituted for Albin Holweck. The supporters of Germany booed when Palmares Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Acep Abidin didn't get a good kick on the ball. Luiz Eduardo Donatello made in the 72nd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Germany's Rolf Rothberg. In the 76th minute, Rolf Rothberg made a precise shot to the right of Leonardo Paz. Palmares Futebol Clube's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-1. After 79 played minutes Palmares Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Luiz Eduardo Donatello. A throw-in in the 84th minute of the game was made by José Paulo Pombal with Acep Abidin as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. In the 90th minute Rolf Rothberg shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Leonardo Paz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Germany's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
