Casper Claes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edward Vanderstraeten in the 24th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Aaron Smallwood saved Santos FC from getting behind. In the 26th minute Edward Vanderstraeten shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aaron Smallwood saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Casper Claes made an important save on a dangerous shot by Arturo Turner in the 28th minute. Edward Vanderstraeten received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Aaron Smallwood tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lanny Gilmore might have been able to make a better finish in the 33rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Casper Claes. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Lanny Gilmore ran back to his position shaking his head. Santos FC's Aaron Smallwood played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edward Vanderstraeten in the 38th minute of play. In the 41st minute, Terence Nicholas hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 44th minute, Edward Vanderstraeten left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Belgium fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lanny Gilmore to make the kick off. Santos FC were awarded a corner in the 68th minute after Belgium's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Dominic Albright took the corner. Casper Claes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Arturo Turner, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 73 minutes into the match, Arturo Turner notched a goal, 3-1, to the right of Belgium's Casper Claes. Casper Claes was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After some careless play in the Santos FC defense, Edward Vanderstraeten kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Aaron Smallwood. The Santos FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Aaron Smallwood should have stopped the shot. Sander Dermaut came free with the goalkeeper in the 82nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Aaron Smallwood could save by the left post. Edward Vanderstraeten took the ball and in the 87 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Aaron Smallwood. Aaron Smallwood dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-3. Casper Claes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tyron Velasquez in the 91st minute of the match. Belgium were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Santos FC to leave the ground with a draw.
