With a little luck, Portugal's Wilson Amorim got control of the ball when Roberto Puch tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 7th minute of the match Lanús got a corner. Portugal's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Jake Hursey ran over to the corner to take the kick. Viriato Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Neuer having to interfere. Matt Le Tissier struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lanús. Rabelani Thebile hit a great freekick 11 minutes into the match. 13 minutes into the match, Lanús's Roberto Puch sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 17th minute, Roberto Puch managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lanús's supporters rose to their feet, but Roberto Puch was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson Amorim breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Wilson Amorim didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Roberto Puch went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. In the 25th match minute, Lanús was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rabelani Thebile to maneuver through the defense. Manuel Neuer made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 27th minute of play. Benjamin Venceslas made in the 33rd minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Portugal's Daniel Pimentel. Felipe Barreto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Manuel Neuer having to interfere. After 42 played minutes Lanús got a freekick which was hit by Amancio Ixona. Manuel Neuer showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felipe Barreto, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Viriato Moura to strike the kick off in the second half. Felipe Barreto could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Manuel Neuer made a huge save. In the 66th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Neuer saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Felipe Barreto in the 68thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Manuel Neuer, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Manuel Neuer stood somewhat misplaced when Felipe Barreto came free in front of goal and shot 1-2 to the left of him in the 68 minute. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. 74 minutes into the match, Eloy Gaskon notched a goal, 2-2, to the right of Portugal's Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Manuel Neuer took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Pimentel, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eloy Gaskon blasted a shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Eloy Gaskon in the 80th minute of play. The supporters of Portugal booed when Lanús was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. 范枫青 didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 86th minute, Eloy Gaskon ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Wilson Amorim was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-2. Wilson Amorim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rabelani Thebile, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Eloy Gaskon's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson Amorim read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. The supporters of Lanús booed when Portugal was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 95 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabricio Andrade didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th minute, Eloy Gaskon got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Lanús had won after a very even match.
