With a left leg Arnout Reekers saved Netherlands from getting behind. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 36th minute after Doctors of Dental Surgery's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. Netherlands's Gustaaf Groeneveldt was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Oliver Lundin in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 38th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Oliver Lundin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, Doctors of Dental Surgery's Nils-Åke Hamnberg got a free kick in the 39th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 47th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oliver Lundin having to interfere.

Doctors of Dental Surgery's Oliver Lundin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 52nd minute of the match, managed to save Doctors of Dental Surgery from getting a goal against them. Oliver Lundin took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Wim Wilmes came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Netherlands fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Wim Wilmes couldn't finish the play. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Oliver Lundin threw himself towards the right post 62 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net.
