Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Augusto Cordario started the match with the kick off. When Bruno Bastos fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Portugal's protests and gave Bruno Bastos a yellow card for diving instead. In the 3rd minute, one of Portugal:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Portugal. Augusto Cordario scored 1-0 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Wilson Amorim made a fantastic save in the 23rd minute, when Augusto Cordario sent off a good shot on target. Filomeno Montrell kicked well hit freekick during the 23rd minute of the match. The audience thought a goal was coming when Augusto Cordario got free with Wilson Amorim in the 26th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After some careless play in the Velez Sarsfield defense, Felipe Barreto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Erwin Huygens. The Velez Sarsfield fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Erwin Huygens should have stopped the shot. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Caetano Moreira in the 33rd minute of play. Raul Caetano lost his temper 34 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 38th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. The audience thought a goal was coming when Augusto Cordario got free with Wilson Amorim in the 38th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Viriato Moura fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 44th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erwin Huygens having to interfere. Velez Sarsfield's attentive Javier Pinola managed to snatch the ball when Rodolfo Miranda made a throw-in in the 47th minute of the game.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Viriato Moura made a kick off. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Arnoldo Mel in the 51 minute of the game. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Augusto Cordario in the 54th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Bruno Bastos got a free kick in the 57th minute. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Faustino Almeida in the 60th minute of play. In the 61st minute of the match Portugal got a corner. Velez Sarsfield's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Felipe Barreto ran over to the corner to take the kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ignacio Berenguer in the 62nd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 64thth minute of the game Augusto Cordario who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Portugal's Wilson Amorim was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When the match had gone on for 68 minutes, Augusto Cordario put it in 3-1 from a short distance just to the right of Wilson Amorim. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. Velez Sarsfield's Leandro Berti was substituted for Ignacio Berenguer. Velez Sarsfield's Yiyo Bernal was substituted for Marcos Pacifico. Velez Sarsfield's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Filomeno Montrell in the 77th minute. The corner led Velez Sarsfield's Filomeno Montrell to fire away a dangerous shot which Wilson Amorim despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 79th minute, Daniel Pimentel managed to get in a good position for a shot. Portugal's supporters rose to their feet, but Daniel Pimentel was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erwin Huygens breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Augusto Cordario struck a weak shot in the 85th minute. Wilson Amorim didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Velez Sarsfield. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Augusto Cordario in the 88th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Wilson Amorim prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 89 minutes of play, Velez Sarsfield's Javier Pinola made it 4-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Wilson Amorim was left in no man's land by his defense there! A sloppy throw-in by Arnoldo Mel in the 92nd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Portugal's Graciano Coutinho. Velez Sarsfield's Erwin Huygens proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 93rd minute of the match, managed to save Velez Sarsfield from getting a goal against them. Bartolomeu Dias sent away a hard shot on goal in the 95th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. There was no doubt that Velez Sarsfield were the better team. Velez Sarsfield's players enjoyed the ovations of the crowd after the victory.
