The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. 6 minutes into the match, David Eikelkamp notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of Velez sarsfield's Ariel Unai. Ariel Unai was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After a rather tough play, Velez sarsfield's Angel Gervaso got a free kick in the 8th minute. Lars Meesters recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 9th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 13 played minutes Netherlands got a freekick which was hit by Wim Wilmes. Ariel Unai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wim Wilmes in the 18th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Angel Gervaso in the 20th minute of play forced Netherlands's goalkeeper Arnout Reekers to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 26th minute, Lars Meesters ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ariel Unai was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. Fabio Iratxo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 33rd minute of the match, but Arnout Reekers made a huge save. In the 37th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. Ariel Unai made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-7. Ariel Unai showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. In the 46th minute, Gijsbert ter Kruimer hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Epifanio Janpier hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The Velez sarsfield players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Netherlands were winning 0-7.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Fabio Iratxo was the one to do the kick off. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ariel Unai having to interfere. Velez sarsfield's Ariel Unai proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 58th minute of the match, managed to save Velez sarsfield from getting a goal against them. When Placido Ipar fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Velez sarsfield's protests and gave Placido Ipar a yellow card for diving instead. After 59 played minutes Velez sarsfield got a freekick which was hit by Placido Ipar. 63 minutes into the game, Netherlands's Mathijn Doctor nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ariel Unai made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-8. Ariel Unai didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Lars Meesters went, in the 66th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. Velez sarsfield's Ariel Unai proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Velez sarsfield from getting a goal against them. Gijsbert ter Kruimer received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Ariel Unai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by David Eikelkamp in the 83rd minute of play forced Velez sarsfield's goalkeeper Ariel Unai to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 85th minute, Netherlands's Wim Wilmes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ariel Unai. Ariel Unai yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-11. 91 minutes into the match, Velez sarsfield's goalkeeper Ariel Unai had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Wim Wilmes. Velez sarsfield's Ariel Unai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by David Eikelkamp in the 95th minute of play. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
