The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. After a rather tough play, Netherlands's Bas Tuitert got a free kick in the 2nd minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 6th minute. Toribio Puelles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 11th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Toribio Puelles having to interfere. In the 12th minute, Purchil's Cutberto Tobia ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Arnout Reekers. Arnout Reekers yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. Toribio Puelles showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 15th minute of the match. 19 minutes into the match, Purchil's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Toribio Puelles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of Toribio Puelles. Purchil's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. A collision led to Purchil getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Lukasz Zgonina hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the game, Lukasz Zgonina cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Arnout Reekers was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The supporters of Purchil booed when Netherlands was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gustaaf Groeneveldt didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 31st minute the ball was on its way in behind Purchil's goalkeeper Toribio Puelles, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the ball and in the 31 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Toribio Puelles. Toribio Puelles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Ace Cameron in the 35th minute of play. Toribio Puelles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of David Eikelkamp's shot from short distance in the 36th minute. In the 38th minute Lukasz Zgonina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 41st minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt made a precise shot to the right of Toribio Puelles. Purchil's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-3. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ace Cameron in the 45th minute of play. After the first half Netherlands were leading 2-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.
When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lukasz Zgonina made a kick off. Toribio Puelles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lars Meesters, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 56th minute after Purchil's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. The corner ended in Gijsbert ter Kruimer almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Purchil's Toribio Puelles did a great save. Bas Tuitert sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Purchil's Álvaro Sampil got a free kick in the 64th minute. Gijsbert ter Kruimer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Toribio Puelles read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 64th minute of play. In the 66th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Purchil's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gijsbert ter Kruimer ran over to the corner to take the kick. Egbert Nijveldt kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. In the 66th minute, Netherlands's Egbert Nijveldt fired away a free kick that almost went in the goal. Toribio Puelles was prepared for the shot, but didn't have to make a play as the shot flew over the goal. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Purchil's zone, Gijsbert ter Kruimer stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Toribio Puelles came out of the goal and Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the ball and in the 82 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Toribio Puelles. Toribio Puelles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-4. Arnout Reekers showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lukasz Zgonina, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 86th minute, Wim Wilmes got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Toribio Puelles made a huge save. In the 92nd minute of the match Juan Ahonzo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Arnout Reekers skillfully saved the ball. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Purchil was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eustaquio Rosalio didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 96 played minutes Purchil got a freekick which was hit by Álvaro Sampil. After recieving a nice pass, Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to score from far away in the 97th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
