The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Zdzislaw Golob made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 4th minute of play. Gustaaf Groeneveldt might have been able to make a better finish in the 13th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Zdzislaw Golob. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 17th minute Gustaaf Groeneveldt shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Zdzislaw Golob saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 19th minute Gijsbert ter Kruimer suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 19 minutes, Atilano Colsa mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Mazinger FC and the Netherlands players grew even worse after the yellow card. Netherlands's Bart Zomerhuis was substituted for Gijsbert ter Kruimer. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zdzislaw Golob having to interfere. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 25th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Bas Tuitert fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zdzislaw Golob having to interfere. Mazinger FC's Zdzislaw Golob played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bart Zomerhuis in the 36th minute of play. In the 37th minute of the match Netherlands got a corner. Mazinger FC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Gustaaf Groeneveldt ran over to the corner to take the kick. Zdzislaw Golob made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bart Zomerhuis in the 39th minute of play.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Frodo Moya made a kick off. Mazinger FC's Zdzislaw Golob played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bart Zomerhuis in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute, Lars Meesters ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Zdzislaw Golob was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After a rather tough play, Mazinger FC's Ruud Dijken got a free kick in the 61st minute. Wim Wilmes could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 62nd minute of the match, but Zdzislaw Golob made a huge save. Zdzislaw Golob came out of the goal in the 63rd minute to try and stop a shot by Netherlands's Bart Zomerhuis. But to his dismay, Bart Zomerhuis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. In the 66th minute, Netherlands's Bart Zomerhuis ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Zdzislaw Golob. Zdzislaw Golob yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 0-3. Lars Meesters fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Zdzislaw Golob having to interfere. Mazinger FC's Zdzislaw Golob proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 77th minute of the match, managed to save Mazinger FC from getting a goal against them. 81 minutes into the match, Gustaaf Groeneveldt notched a goal, 0-4, to the right of Mazinger FC's Zdzislaw Golob. Zdzislaw Golob was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Lisa Katt in the 85th minute of play. Zdzislaw Golob showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lars Meesters, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. Gustaaf Groeneveldt hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match.
