Arnout Reekers had great luck who in the 35thth minute grab hold of the ball when Ermanno Lalli from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. In the 36th minute of the match Laykers got a corner. Netherlands's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Domenico Di Girolamo ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner ended in Domenico Di Girolamo almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers did a great save. Demetrio Greco made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 37th minute of play. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Ermanno Lalli was the one to do the kick off. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Demetrio Greco having to interfere. In the 70th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Demetrio Greco saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 71 minutes of play, Laykers's Carmine Cavanna made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Arnout Reekers was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 76th minute, Laykers's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 84th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ermanno Lalli in the 90th minute of the match. If Gijsbert ter Kruimer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 96 minutes in the game, Lars Meesters fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Demetrio Greco having to interfere. Netherlands were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
