Edward Vanderstraeten blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Roch Cieslak having to make a save. Roch Cieslak made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Edward Vanderstraeten in the 12th minute of play. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind FC Luck's goalkeeper Roch Cieslak, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The throw-in from Siebe Michiels in the 17th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC Luck's Claudiu Arotăriței. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by FC Luck's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Edward Vanderstraeten was slow to take the kick. During this time Belgium's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Sander Dermaut almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but FC Luck's Roch Cieslak did a great save. In the 21st minute Belgium were awarded a corner. Narcis Voinescu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casper Claes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 31st minute of play. If Narcis Voinescu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. David Chiru hit a great freekick 41 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

In the 51st minute, one of Belgium:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Belgium.
