With a little luck, Netherlands's Arnout Reekers got control of the ball when Felipe Manni tried to sneak it across the goal line. When Felipe Manni came up free with the goalie in the 9th minute, the SSC Meno Male fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Felipe Manni couldn't finish the play. Arnout Reekers showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felipe Manni in the 12th minute of the match. If Gustaaf Groeneveldt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 16th minute of play forced SSC Meno Male's goalkeeper Amos Colagrossi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Arnout Reekers took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ferruccio Scevola, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Amos Colagrossi showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. Arnout Reekers made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gaston Venceslao in the 32nd minute of play. 34 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Ferruccio Scevola came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 36th minute the ball was on its way in behind SSC Meno Male's goalkeeper Amos Colagrossi, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 39 played minutes SSC Meno Male got a freekick which was hit by Gaston Venceslao. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 41st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Gaston Venceslao's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Arnout Reekers was relentless in the 44th minute of the game. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Ferruccio Scevola made the kick off in the second half. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Amos Colagrossi threw himself towards the right post 52 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Mathijn Doctor took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Amos Colagrossi. Amos Colagrossi dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. Wim Wilmes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amos Colagrossi having to interfere. Gustaaf Groeneveldt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amos Colagrossi having to interfere. Netherlands's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gaston Venceslao was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1. Netherlands were awarded a corner in the 75th minute after SSC Meno Male's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Gijsbert ter Kruimer took the corner. With a little luck, SSC Meno Male's Amos Colagrossi got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Amos Colagrossi showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Wim Wilmes in the 81st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice moves Gustaaf Groeneveldt could shoot a difficult shot in the 85th minute, which Amos Colagrossi however easily saved by the left post. Amos Colagrossi made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Wim Wilmes sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Netherlands booed when SSC Meno Male was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Melchor Lopez didn't get a good kick on the ball. Gijsbert ter Kruimer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Amos Colagrossi having to interfere. Amos Colagrossi made an important save on a dangerous shot by Wim Wilmes in the 90th minute. In the 91st minute Ferruccio Scevola shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Arnout Reekers saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Mathijn Doctor hit a great ball. After a defensive mix-up in SSC Meno Male's zone, Wim Wilmes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amos Colagrossi came out of the goal and Wim Wilmes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The SSC Meno Male fans cheered their team off the field, for while Netherlands had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
