After having played for 6 minutes, Arturo Scotti managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. violeta's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arturo Scotti was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 8th match minute, violeta was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Genaro Francesco to maneuver through the defense. violeta's Florian Tieri played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 15th minute of play. 17 minutes had been played when some careless play by violeta's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Barreto was slow to take the kick. During this time Portugal's players had a chance to rest. After a rather tough play, Portugal's Felipe Barreto got a free kick in the 22nd minute. Florian Tieri showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Viriato Moura in the 24th minute of the match. In the 26thth minute of the game Felipe Barreto who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but violeta's Florian Tieri was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. 27 minutes into the match, violeta's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Florian Tieri reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Aurelio Pennetta fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. 35 minutes into the match, Portugal's goal looked a bit too open when Matej Nagy came free, but Wilson Amorim reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Florian Tieri came out of the goal in the 37th minute to try and stop a shot by Portugal's Felipe Barreto. But to his dismay, Felipe Barreto quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. When Portugal's Viriato Moura in the 41st minute got a chance for a shot 41st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye violeta's goalie prevented a goal. In the 45th minute, Viriato Moura ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Florian Tieri was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-2.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Viriato Moura to make the kick off. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Matej Nagy put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Aurelio Pennetta in the 58th minute of play. Portugal made a substitution. Felipinho Amorim replaced Felipe Barreto. In a very dangerous position, a player in violeta fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 82nd minute. Penalty! Florian Tieri had in the 83rdth minute some difficulties stopping Daniel Pimentel's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Despite being the better team, violeta failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
