Thanks to some nice moves Vasile Blănaru could shoot a difficult shot in the 12th minute, which Tommy Kahn however easily saved by the left post. Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Sachs in the 17th minute of play. After having played for 21 minutes, Chorache Tofiño managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Progresul Pitesti's supporters crossed their fingers, but Chorache Tofiño was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ezkerra Villasana kicked well hit freekick during the 24th minute of the match. Progresul Pitesti's Martin Tudor played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Sachs in the 28th minute of play. After some careless play in the Progresul Pitesti defense, Frank Sachs kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Martin Tudor. The Progresul Pitesti fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Martin Tudor should have stopped the shot. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Karol Czempa in the 32nd minute of play. In the 34th minute of the match Progresul Pitesti got a corner. Germany's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Florin Logofătu ran over to the corner to take the kick. At last the ball reached Ezkerra Villasana at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Germany. 1-1. 40 minutes into the game, Timmie Deinse recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Tommy Kahn. Timmie Deinse showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Frank Sachs to make the kick off. In the 52nd minute Chorache Tofiño shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 56 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Chorache Tofiño came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Chorache Tofiño in the 59th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ezkerra Villasana fell near the penalty area in the 62nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Progresul Pitesti's protests and gave Ezkerra Villasana a yellow card for diving instead. After 62 played minutes Progresul Pitesti got a freekick which was hit by Ezkerra Villasana. Frank Sachs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 64th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. Tommy Kahn dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. In the 76th minute Karol Czempa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Frank Sachs sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 82nd minute, Frank Sachs left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Germany fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. 84 minutes into the match, Progresul Pitesti's goal looked a bit too open when Albin Holweck came free, but Martin Tudor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 85th match minute, Progresul Pitesti was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ezkerra Villasana to maneuver through the defense. Ezkerra Villasana made in the 87th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Timmie Deinse. Frank Sachss short, quick shot in the 90thth minute got Martin Tudor to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. After 94 played minutes Germany got a freekick which was hit by Willy Stieler. Tommy Kahn showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Florin Logofătu in the 96th minute of the match. For all the effort they put into the match, the Germany players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Progresul Pitesti.
