The corner led Netherlands's Lars Meesters to a score. 0-1 in the 10th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Waldemar Rosen in the 13th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Arnout Reekers saved Netherlands from getting behind. Ni Guang Yong didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer went, in the 16th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Bas Tuitert kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. In the 21st minute of the match Pinhote FC got a corner. Netherlands's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Damião Maia ran over to the corner to take the kick. Arnout Reekers made an important save on a dangerous shot by Sílvio Luís Ceresso in the 24th minute. Arnout Reekers made a fantastic save in the 26th minute, when Imre Hellinger sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Wim Wilmes in the 29th minute of play forced Pinhote FC's goalkeeper Ni Guang Yong to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The referee felt a red card was in order, 31 minutes into the game, when Mathijn Doctor put in a rough tackle. In a very dangerous position, a player in Netherlands fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 31st minute. Penalty! Ni Guang Yong made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 36th minute of play. In the 38th minute Wim Wilmes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ni Guang Yong saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 1-2 became the score in the 39th minute when Imre Hellinger elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Pinhote FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Beton didn't get a good kick on the ball. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Sílvio Luís Ceresso to strike the kick off in the second half. Lars Meesters struck a weak shot in the 53rd minute. Ni Guang Yong didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. 57 minutes into the match, Pinhote FC's goalkeeper Ni Guang Yong had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt. If Wim Wilmes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 59th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Lars Meesters blasted a shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ni Guang Yong having to make a save. When the match had gone on for 61 minutes, Wim Wilmes put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Ni Guang Yong. The corner ended in Damião Maia almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers did a great save. Pinhote FC were awarded a corner in the 67th minute after Netherlands's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Damião Maia took the corner. Lars Meesters's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ni Guang Yong read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. Wim Wilmes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ni Guang Yong made an important save on a dangerous shot by David Eikelkamp in the 85th minute. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Pinhote FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. John Beton didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Gijsbert ter Kruimer got free with Ni Guang Yong in the 91st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Netherlands's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
