Spectators: 39 (Terracing: 30, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) C.A.Guimarães's Dorival Toledo started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Sílvio Couto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Samuele Kunz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Switzerland booed when C.A.Guimarães was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Léo da Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Switzerland's Jürg von Ballmoos was substituted for Jacinto Maurer. After a rather tough play, C.A.Guimarães's Léo da Fonseca got a free kick in the 9th minute. In the 9th match minute, C.A.Guimarães was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Delfim de Salles to maneuver through the defense. After 14 minutes, Dorival Toledo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the C.A.Guimarães and the Switzerland players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th match minute, C.A.Guimarães was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dorival Toledo to maneuver through the defense. Samuele Kunz recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dorival Toledo kicked well hit freekick during the 17th minute of the match. Sílvio Couto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jürg von Ballmoos in the 18th minute of play. Jürg von Ballmoos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Couto having to interfere. Leo Allemann fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sílvio Couto having to interfere. In the 26th minute Samuele Kunz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sílvio Couto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Samuele Kunz struck a weak shot in the 28th minute. Sílvio Couto didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Switzerland. C.A.Guimarães's Dorival Toledo got his second yellow card of the match in the 29th minute. The referee ordered Dorival Toledo off the ground. After 29 played minutes C.A.Guimarães got a freekick which was hit by Dorival Toledo. Sílvio Couto showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Samuele Kunz, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. 39 minutes into the match, C.A.Guimarães's goal looked a bit too open when Jürg von Ballmoos came free, but Sílvio Couto reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Abelardo França fell near the penalty area in the 41st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored C.A.Guimarães's protests and gave Abelardo França a yellow card for diving instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jürg von Ballmoos in the 45th minute of play forced C.A.Guimarães's goalkeeper Sílvio Couto to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Samuele Kunz to make the kick off. In the 51st minute, Fernandão Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Samuele Kunz took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 52nd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Sílvio Couto. C.A.Guimarães's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Samuele Kunz came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Switzerland fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Samuele Kunz couldn't finish the play. If Samuele Kunz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 59 minutes into the match, Switzerland's Samuele Kunz sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Sílvio Couto narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 61st minute, Samuele Kunz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Jürg von Ballmoos blasted a shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Sílvio Couto having to make a save. Jürg von Ballmoos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 69th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Samuele Kunz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 75 minutes into the match, C.A.Guimarães's goalkeeper Sílvio Couto had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Samuele Kunz. Sílvio Couto made an important save on a dangerous shot by Samuele Kunz in the 78th minute. Bianco Maranzano charged in rather forcefully in the 79th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bianco Maranzano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Bianco Maranzano hit a great freekick 79 minutes into the match. Samuele Kunz who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 81stth minute tested the skills of Sílvio Couto when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After having played for 83 minutes, Samuele Kunz managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Switzerland's supporters crossed their fingers, but Samuele Kunz was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After 86 played minutes C.A.Guimarães got a freekick which was hit by Bianco Maranzano. In the 89th minute, Samuele Kunz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jürg von Ballmoos got free with Sílvio Couto in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Jürg von Ballmoos received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 96th minute. Sílvio Couto tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Switzerland were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
