Lars Meesters blasted a shot towards the goal in the 26th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Chico Răica having to make a save. 27 minutes in the game, Lars Meesters dribbled his way through the penalty area and after maneuvering past an opponent, drilled a quick shot at the goal. The ball looked like it was going in, but it was hit a bit too hard and flew over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 29th minute of play forced Esporte Clube Zeus's goalkeeper Chico Răica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Chico Răica showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Eikelkamp in the 31st minute of the match. 32 minutes into the game, Bas Tuitert cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Chico Răica was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 36 minutes into the match, Esporte Clube Zeus's goal looked a bit too open when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free, but Chico Răica reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Esporte Clube Zeus defense, Gijsbert ter Kruimer kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Chico Răica. The Esporte Clube Zeus fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Chico Răica should have stopped the shot. Chico Răica showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gustaaf Groeneveldt, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

The wind increased when Luan Campidelis made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute of the match, Gijsbert ter Kruimer tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Chico Răica saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. After a rather tough play, Esporte Clube Zeus's Rafa Moura got a free kick in the 54th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 55th minute of play forced Esporte Clube Zeus's goalkeeper Chico Răica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The supporters of Netherlands booed when Esporte Clube Zeus was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 56 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eurico Cardozo didn't get a good kick on the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 59th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Chico Răica prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The crowd rose to their feet as Kees Mooiweer kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Chico Răica. That made the score 0-3 in the 60 minute of play. Chico Răica made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 63rd minute of play. 68 minutes into the game, Gust Ennemans threw the ball into play from the sideline. Esporte Clube Zeus's Eurico Cardozo quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Chico Răica made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Lars Meesters in the 70th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 71st minute, Wim Wilmes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Netherlands's supporters rose to their feet, but Wim Wilmes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Chico Răica breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gijsbert ter Kruimer in the 83rd minute of play forced Esporte Clube Zeus's goalkeeper Chico Răica to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 88thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Chico Răica, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. After having played for 89 minutes, Gijsbert ter Kruimer managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Netherlands's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gijsbert ter Kruimer was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gijsbert ter Kruimer struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Chico Răica didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Netherlands. In the 95th minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
