After 36 played minutes VBL Stockholm got a freekick which was hit by Eerik Lilleorg. 38 minutes into the match, Edward Vanderstraeten had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Carl-Chester Vallgren. VBL Stockholm's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Edward Vanderstraeten was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3. Carl-Chester Vallgren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edward Vanderstraeten, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Edward Vanderstraeten had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The VBL Stockholm players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Belgium were winning 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Edward Vanderstraeten to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Olov Johnsson in the 53rd minute of play forced Belgium's goalkeeper Casper Claes to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jonatan Olsson's late challenge caught a Belgium's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jonatan Olsson helped the player get up and apologised. Jonatan Olsson kicked well hit freekick during the 55th minute of the match. Edward Vanderstraeten sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Olov Johnsson's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Casper Claes read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 66th minute of play. Belgium's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-5. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Belgium walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
