In the 10th match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Felipe Barreto to maneuver through the defense. Aderbal Santos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Viriato Moura, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 20 minutes play. Caetano Moreira hit a great ball. Narciso Madureira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Wilson Amorim having to interfere. Wilson Amorim took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Sílvio Ferrão, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Caco Araújo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Portugal's Wilson Amorim proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Portugal from getting a goal against them. Caetano Moreira kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. 30 minutes into the match, Straedelburgh's Narciso Madureira sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Wilson Amorim narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 31st minute Straedelburgh were awarded a corner. Emanuel Tome went to the cornerflag to take it. Emanuel Tome made a great header on Straedelburgh's corner, it was just that Portugal's Wilson Amorim managed to reach the ball for a save. 32 minutes into the match, Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Narciso Madureira. Sílvio Ferrão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Wilson Amorim made a huge save. In the 40th minute, Straedelburgh's Sílvio Ferrão ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Wilson Amorim. Wilson Amorim yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. Wilson Amorim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sílvio Ferrão in the 48th minute of the match. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Viriato Moura made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 51 minutes play. Caetano Moreira hit a great ball. Emanuel Tome scored 2-1 in the 53rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Wilson Amorim, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 56th minute, Felipe Barreto hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Portugal getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Felipe Barreto hit a great ball. In the 60th minute Viriato Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aderbal Santos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Portugal's Daniel Pimentel managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Betão Matorin in the 62 minute of the game. 65 minutes into the match, Straedelburgh's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Aderbal Santos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Portugal's Wilson Amorim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sílvio Ferrão in the 67th minute of play. When Caco Araújo fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Straedelburgh's protests and gave Caco Araújo a yellow card for diving instead. Straedelburgh's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
