The referee ignored Diriliş Trabzonspor's protests and gave Bahtiyar Uğurel a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th minute, Bahtiyar Uğurel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 8 minutes into the game, Pavol Koleno cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Ergin Tüzel was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 11 played minutes Diriliş Trabzonspor got a freekick which was hit by Ahmet Seyfi Yücel. The audience was convinced that Reis İşkembeci's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Henrich Slany was relentless in the 14th minute of the game. In the 20th minute Metod Mlynar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ergin Tüzel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Metod Mlynar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ergin Tüzel having to interfere. Ergin Tüzel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Metod Mlynar in the 25th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Diriliş Trabzonspor's zone, Metod Mlynar stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ergin Tüzel came out of the goal and Metod Mlynar tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 33 minutes into the match, Diriliş Trabzonspor's goal looked a bit too open when Metod Mlynar came free, but Ergin Tüzel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Metod Mlynar came up free with the goalie in the 34th minute, the Slovakia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Metod Mlynar couldn't finish the play. When Vavrinec Koleno fell near the penalty area in the 36th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Slovakia's protests and gave Vavrinec Koleno a yellow card for diving instead. Diriliş Trabzonspor's Ahmet Seyfi Yücel got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Nedim Taşgan made in the 45th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Tevfik İlksel immediately put the ball in play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Reis İşkembeci was the one to do the kick off. Metod Mlynar recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 51st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Reis İşkembeci had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the match, Diriliş Trabzonspor's goalkeeper Ergin Tüzel had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Metod Mlynar. 57 minutes into the game, Ahmet Seyfi Yücel was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Diriliş Trabzonspor's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Slovakia the free kick. 63 minutes into the game, Diriliş Trabzonspor's Reis İşkembeci nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Henrich Slany made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 67 minutes into the match, Slovakia's goal looked a bit too open when Nedim Taşgan came free, but Henrich Slany reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Şanver Dolunay charged in rather forcefully in the 71st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Şanver Dolunay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Slovakia booed when Diriliş Trabzonspor was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Şanver Dolunay didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ergin Tüzel made an important save on a dangerous shot by Metod Mlynar in the 73rd minute. A collision led to Slovakia getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. After a rather tough play, Slovakia's Vavrinec Koleno got a free kick in the 92nd minute.
