Cristian Voican stood somewhat misplaced when Gustaaf Groeneveldt came free in front of goal and shot 0-6 to the left of him in the 70 minute. With a little luck, A.C. Milan's Cristian Voican got control of the ball when Wim Wilmes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Netherlands's Arnout Reekers played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Robert Trifănucă in the 74th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Netherlands's Cristian Voican threw himself towards the right post 75 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Gijsbert ter Kruimer, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 82nd minute, Gustaaf Groeneveldt left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Netherlands fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-8. Netherlands's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
