Spectators: 40 (Terracing: 31, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Claudio Cina took the kick off in the first half of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Frank Sachs in the 5th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Adolfo Moreira saved SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA from getting behind. Sálvio Festas hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. Frank Sachs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 13th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Adolfo Moreira having to interfere. After some careless play in the Germany defense, Claudio Cina kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Tommy Kahn. The Germany fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Tommy Kahn should have stopped the shot. After a rather tough play, Germany's Malte Schiele got a free kick in the 19th minute. In the 21st minute, Frank Sachs left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Germany fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 24th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 27th minute of the match, Claudio Cina tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Tommy Kahn saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. In the 38th minute the ball was on its way in behind SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's goalkeeper Adolfo Moreira, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 39th minute Claudio Cina shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Kahn saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tommy Kahn was out of position in the 40 minute of play, and Claudio Cina capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Claudio Cina really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. 44 minutes into the game, Sálvio Festas cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Tommy Kahn was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Claudio Cina in the 49th minute of play. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-1 at half-time.

After a rather tough play, Germany's Malte Schiele got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Davor Šuker, who was totally free with the ball in the 56th minute. Joaquim Ferraz's late challenge caught a Germany's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Joaquim Ferraz helped the player get up and apologised. After 58 played minutes SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA got a freekick which was hit by Joaquim Ferraz. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal in the 60th minute to try and stop a shot by SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's Davor Šuker. But to his dismay, Davor Šuker quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 4-1. Sálvio Festas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 66th minute. Tommy Kahn tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Joaquim Ferraz got his second yellow card in the match during the 67th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. In the 67th minute, Joaquim Ferraz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Frank Sachs, 70 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Adolfo Moreira made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Sachs in the 76th minute of play. Tommy Kahn made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Davor Šuker in the 84th minute of play. Adolfo Moreira was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Albin Holweck. 91 minutes into the match, SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA's Sálvio Festas sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Tommy Kahn narrowly saved just below the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 95 minutes, Frank Sachs took a quick shot and it went in 4-2 without a chance for Adolfo Moreira to make any attempt to save it. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. SPORT LISBOA E BENFICA had won after a very even match.
