Italy's Flavio Vittori proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Italy from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zaccheo Andolina in the 18th minute of play forced George Weahs Academy's goalkeeper Aggelos Telakos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 18 minutes, Zaccheo Andolina put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Aggelos Telakos. Aggelos Telakos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Italy booed when George Weahs Academy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mwai Emilio Otieno in the 37th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Flavio Vittori saved Italy from getting behind. After 40 played minutes George Weahs Academy got a freekick which was hit by Charles Wemba. Aggelos Telakos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 43rd minute of the match. Zaccheo Andolina sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Porziano Marchitelli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aggelos Telakos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 46th minute of play. 47 minutes into the match, George Weahs Academy's goal looked a bit too open when Zaccheo Andolina came free, but Aggelos Telakos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Zaccheo Andolina was the one to do the kick off. Italy's Flavio Vittori played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mwai Emilio Otieno in the 51st minute of play. With a little luck, George Weahs Academy's Aggelos Telakos got control of the ball when Sigfrido Auletta tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 56th minute Porziano Marchitelli shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Aggelos Telakos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, George Weahs Academy's goalkeeper Aggelos Telakos had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Zaccheo Andolina. In the 61st minute Ngina Njoroge shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Flavio Vittori saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 80th minute, Zaccheo Andolina managed to get in a good position for a shot. Italy's supporters rose to their feet, but Zaccheo Andolina was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aggelos Telakos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Italy made a substitution. Sansone Vanella replaced Gianpaolo Mascari. Italy's Adriano Curto was substituted for Zaccheo Andolina. With a little luck, George Weahs Academy's Aggelos Telakos got control of the ball when Porziano Marchitelli tried to sneak it across the goal line. Mwai Emilio Otieno received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Flavio Vittori tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, George Weahs Academy's Ngina Njoroge got a free kick in the 89th minute. Porziano Marchitelli sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Italy walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
