The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Flavio Vittori made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nick Heesen in the 6th minute of play. The supporters of Ágætis Byrjun booed when Italy was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gomberto Picozzi didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 24th minute, Sigfrido Auletta got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Georg Hagberg took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zaccheo Andolina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Italy's zone, Nick Heesen stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Flavio Vittori came out of the goal and Nick Heesen tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nick Heesen kicked well hit freekick during the 37th minute of the match. Ágætis Byrjun's Georg Hagberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sigfrido Auletta in the 41st minute of play. In the 44th minute, Ágætis Byrjun's Nick Heesen ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Flavio Vittori. Flavio Vittori yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nick Heesen made a kick off. 51 minutes into the match, Italy's goal looked a bit too open when Nick Heesen came free, but Flavio Vittori reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Georg Hagberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zaccheo Andolina in the 53rd minute of play. Ágætis Byrjun's Georg Hagberg played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Guiscardo Davide in the 95th minute of play. Italy's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
