After a rather tough play, União São José FC's Gil Meirelles got a free kick in the 3rd minute. In the 6th minute, Frank Peletier got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Robert Chapuis in the 14th minute of play forced União São José FC's goalkeeper Lauro da Silveira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. União São José FC's Lauro da Silveira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Frank Peletier in the 15th minute of play. Pedro Luiz Corrêa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Maxime Durand having to make a save. Remy Dupuy hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. France's defense didn't have a chance, in the 24th minute, when Cláudio Loyola scored to the left of an out of position Maxime Durand, making the score, 1-0. 30 minutes into the match, France's goalkeeper Maxime Durand had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cláudio Loyola. União São José FC's Sílvio Andrade managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by David Barbier in the 37 minute of the game. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Frank Peletier made the kick off in the second half. Acácio Mazza tried in the game's 52nd match minute to clear up in front of his own goal but it went so bad that he put the ball into the goal to the left of an unhappy Lauro da Silveira. An annoying self made goal, 1-1. With an all-out effort, France's Lauro da Silveira threw himself towards the right post 58 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from David Barbier, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Camille Baume's late challenge caught a União São José FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Camille Baume helped the player get up and apologised. In the 59th minute, Camille Baume hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of União São José FC booed when France was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 61 match minutes in a wonderful position. Frank Peletier didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 62nd minute of the match Pedro Luiz Corrêa shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Maxime Durand showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. In the 63rd minute, Alexis Bruneau hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maxime Durand made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cláudio Loyola in the 63rd minute of play. A hard shot 65 in the game by Frank Peletier from a close distance when the talented Lauro da Silveira managed to make a qualified save. União São José FC's players were relieved. 68 minutes into the match, União São José FC's goalkeeper Lauro da Silveira had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Frank Peletier. Lauro da Silveira made an important save on a dangerous shot by Frank Peletier in the 75th minute. Frank Peletier in the 78thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Lauro da Silveira showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Camille Baume, who was totally free with the ball in the 88th minute. In the 89th minute, Sandro de Queiroz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Maxime Durand stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Pedro Luiz Corrêa's shot from short distance in the 96th minute. France were disappointed that they only managed a draw, even though they felt themselves to be the better team.
