Sanda Cutov might have been able to make a better finish in the 25th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Johnny Banks. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Sanda Cutov ran back to his position shaking his head. Johnny Banks made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sanda Cutov in the 25th minute of play. After 26 played minutes Romania got a freekick which was hit by Cosmin Barbulescu. With an all-out effort, Malmö White Knights's Carol Stinga threw himself towards the right post 27 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Roby Baggio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. An unexpectedly hard shot by Adam Olaru in the 30th minute of play forced Malmö White Knights's goalkeeper Johnny Banks to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Romania were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Malmö White Knights's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Adam Olaru took the corner. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Adam Olaru made a kick off. In the 53rd minute, Elvijs Presley ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carol Stinga was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. Johnny Banks took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alex Serban, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Romania made a substitution. Anton Stinga replaced Adam Olaru. After 57 played minutes Romania got a freekick which was hit by Cosmin Barbulescu. In the 88th match minute, Romania was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Cosmin Barbulescu to maneuver through the defense. In the 92nd minute Anton Stinga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Johnny Banks saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Johnny Banks showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alexandru Pangratiu, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. 96 minutes into the match, Anton Stinga had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Johnny Banks. Malmö White Knights's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Anton Stinga was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. When the match was over Romania could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Malmö White Knights throughout the match.
