The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 5th minute, Pannonia's Aleksandar Stojanović dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 9th minute of the match, managed to save Switzerland from getting a goal against them. When Mirsad Grkinić fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pannonia's protests and gave Mirsad Grkinić a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Switzerland booed when Pannonia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mirsad Grkinić didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aleksandar Stojanović fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 18th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hias Nüssli having to interfere. Mirsad Grkinić made in the 20th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Luka Drinčić. A sloppy throw-in by Mirsad Grkinić in the 21st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Switzerland's Timo Siegmund. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mirsad Grkinić in the 22nd minute of play. Hias Nüssli took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aleksandar Stojanović, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a rather tough play, Switzerland's Rodrigo von Känel got a free kick in the 31st minute. When %teams%'s Mirsad Grkinić was free in front of goal, he didn't hesitate to shoot 3-0 just inside the left pole, 36 minutes into the game. Hias Nüssli was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. 40 minutes into the game, Aleksandar Stojanović cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 4-0. Hias Nüssli was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. If Aleksandar Stojanović had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Hias Nüssli made a fantastic save in the 47th minute, when Aleksandar Stojanović sent off a good shot on target.

A sloppy throw-in by Mirsad Grkinić in the 55th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Switzerland's Jacinto Maurer. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Srđan Milašinović during the 56th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 56 played minutes Pannonia got a freekick which was hit by Srđan Milašinović. An unexpectedly hard shot by Aleksandar Stojanović in the 60th minute of play forced Switzerland's goalkeeper Hias Nüssli to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience was convinced that Aleksandar Stojanović's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Hias Nüssli was relentless in the 63rd minute of the game. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Aleksandar Stojanović in the 63rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Hias Nüssli saved Switzerland from getting behind. In the 65th minute the ball was on its way in behind Pannonia's goalkeeper Pavle Rakočević, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Hias Nüssli showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Trivun Mirotić in the 66th minute of the match. In the 69th minute Pannonia were awarded a corner. Dragorad Milinić went to the cornerflag to take it. Switzerland's Hias Nüssli played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Aleksandar Stojanović in the 74th minute of play. Pannonia made a substitution. Radivoj Kontić replaced Trivun Mirotić. Dragorad Milinić made in the 78th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Switzerland's Jacinto Maurer. The throw-in from Aleksandar Stojanović in the 81st minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Switzerland's Fridolin Neumeister. The Pannonia fans' excitement grew in the 82nd match minute when Pannonia's Aleksandar Stojanović looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 5-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When Velibor Opsenica fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Pannonia's protests and gave Velibor Opsenica a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Pannonia getting a freekick after 88 minutes play. Velibor Opsenica hit a great ball. 93 minutes into the game, Mirsad Grkinić threw the ball into play from the sideline. Switzerland's Jacinto Maurer quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Radivoj Kontić might have been able to make a better finish in the 95th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Hias Nüssli. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Radivoj Kontić ran back to his position shaking his head. After some careless play in the Switzerland defense, Radivoj Kontić kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Hias Nüssli. The Switzerland fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Hias Nüssli should have stopped the shot. The Pannonia players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
