Saadettin Başesgi was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 30 minutes into the game, Celalettin Mutlugün threw the ball into play from the sideline. Slovakia's Vít Biskup quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Mehmet Oğuz Hececi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out.
