With an all-out effort, San Martìn's Tommy Kahn threw himself towards the right post 15 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Betão Leite, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Frank Sachs sped through San Martìn's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Mauricio Sabino. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Mario Santos in the 27th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tommy Kahn saved Germany from getting behind. Germany's defense didn't have a chance, in the 31st minute, when Paul Nanu scored to the left of an out of position Tommy Kahn, making the score, 2-1. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The crowd rose to their feet as San Martìn's Paul Nanu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Tommy Kahn. That made the score 3-1 after 36 minutes of play. Mauricio Sabino showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Frank Sachs in the 39th minute of the match. A hard shot 41 in the game by Mario Santos from a close distance when the talented Tommy Kahn managed to make a qualified save. Germany's players were relieved.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Frank Sachs was the one to do the kick off. 52 minutes into the match, Germany's goal looked a bit too open when Paul Nanu came free, but Tommy Kahn reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Saul Rius managed to get in a good position for a shot. San Martìn's supporters rose to their feet, but Saul Rius was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Tommy Kahn breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Chris Mergenthaler fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mauricio Sabino having to interfere. Mauricio Sabino tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. If Frank Sachs had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Mauricio Sabino made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Frank Sachs in the 83rd minute of play. Tommy Kahn showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mario Santos, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Tommy Kahn came out of the goal in the 91st minute to try and stop a shot by San Martìn's Paul Nanu. But to his dismay, Paul Nanu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-1. Honorio Telesforo kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Sven Krakouer hit a great ball. San Martìn's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
