An unexpectedly hard shot by Sijmen Clous in the 19th minute of play forced Febre Amarela's goalkeeper Luís Fernando Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Adil Vavasseur sent away a hard shot on goal in the 44th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Lars Meesters fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Netherlands's protests and gave Lars Meesters a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Netherlands getting a freekick after 45 minutes play. Lars Meesters hit a great ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-2 lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gijsbert ter Kruimer to make the kick off. Célio da Cunha's late challenge caught a Netherlands's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Célio da Cunha helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Febre Amarela getting a freekick after 60 minutes play. Célio da Cunha hit a great ball. 62 minutes in the game Gijsbert ter Kruimer after having made a beautiful turn got a great opportunity to score and fired away a shot that went just to the left past a relieved Luís Fernando Almeida. A very good opportunity. Luís Fernando Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Gustaaf Groeneveldt in the 71st minute. In the 73rd minute, Lenílson Peres made a precise shot to the right of Arnout Reekers. Netherlands's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-3. Netherlands's Gijsbert ter Kruimer got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 77thth minute of the game Lenílson Peres who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Netherlands's Arnout Reekers was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Lenílson Peres in the 78th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnout Reekers prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 81st minute of the game Kees Mooiweer made a throw-in which Lars Meesters played forward. 87 minutes into the match, Netherlands's goal looked a bit too open when Lenílson Peres came free, but Arnout Reekers reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Netherlands defense, Lenílson Peres kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Arnout Reekers. The Netherlands fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Arnout Reekers should have stopped the shot. When the final whistle sounded Netherlands left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Febre Amarela.
