In the 11th minute, Sidnei Sanches hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laércio Trigo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Graciano Coutinho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 13 minutes into the match, Deportivo Craques fc's goal looked a bit too open when Viriato Moura came free, but Laércio Trigo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Deportivo Craques fc's Laércio Trigo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Viriato Moura in the 17th minute of play. In the 19th match minute, Deportivo Craques fc was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sidnei Vergílio to maneuver through the defense. Laércio Trigo came out of the goal in the 21st minute to try and stop a shot by Portugal's Viriato Moura. But to his dismay, Viriato Moura quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Van Nistelrooy blasted a shot towards the goal in the 27th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Wilson Amorim having to make a save. Faustino Almeida kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. In the 33rd minute, Paul Floridong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience was convinced that Viriato Moura's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Laércio Trigo was relentless in the 35th minute of the game. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Van Nistelrooy took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Wilson Amorim to make any attempt to save it. In the 44th minute, Paul Floridong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Viriato Moura stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 51st match minute, Portugal was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Faustino Almeida to maneuver through the defense. In the 53rd minute Van Nistelrooy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Wilson Amorim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a defensive mix-up in Portugal's zone, Van Nistelrooy stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Wilson Amorim came out of the goal and Van Nistelrooy tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Deportivo Craques fc's Laércio Trigo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 62nd minute of the match, managed to save Deportivo Craques fc from getting a goal against them. After 63 played minutes Portugal got a freekick which was hit by Felipe Barreto. 程鸿奕 hit a great freekick 64 minutes into the match. Portugal's Felipinho Amorim was substituted for Felipe Barreto. Portugal made a substitution. Bartolomeu Dias replaced Viriato Moura. In the 69th minute, Van Nistelrooy left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Deportivo Craques fc fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 77th minute after Deportivo Craques fc's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Pimentel took the corner. Laércio Trigo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Pimentel in the 81st minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Van Nistelrooy in the 83rd minute of play forced Portugal's goalkeeper Wilson Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Portugal were awarded a corner in the 87th minute after Deportivo Craques fc's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Pimentel took the corner. 89 minutes into the match, Portugal's Daniel Pimentel sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Laércio Trigo narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Deportivo Craques fc fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. Portugal's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
