Boudewijn Dolfing hit a great ball. In the 28th minute of the match E. C. Flamengo Paraibano got a corner. Northern Titans's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Eugênio Pires ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's corner Váldson Queirós fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Eric Hansma quite easily take care of the ball. Flamengo Paraibano's Albin Anundsson was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 39th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Geovanni Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wouter van Basten in the 42nd minute of play. With a little luck, Northern Titans's Eric Hansma got control of the ball when Hamílton Tande tried to sneak it across the goal line.

The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 53rd minute of the game. One of E. C. Flamengo Paraibano:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Northern Titans:s goal. After some careless play in the Northern Titans defense, Thomás Loureiro kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eric Hansma. The Northern Titans fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eric Hansma should have stopped the shot. Albin Anundsson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 71st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eric Hansma having to interfere. Eric Hansma showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Thomás Loureiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Geovanni Vides made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andreas Jans in the 75th minute of play. E. C. Flamengo Paraibano's Geovanni Vides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Wouter van Basten in the 83rd minute of play. A collision led to E. C. Flamengo Paraibano getting a freekick after 100 minutes play. Albin Anundsson hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The E. C. Flamengo Paraibano fans cheered their team off the field, for while Northern Titans had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
