One of Feyli Ragazzi:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Germany:s goal. 17 minutes into the match, Ermanno Zoff dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Tommy Kahn, 1-1. If Armando Baciadonne had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 28th minute, Albin Holweck ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Patricio Fillol was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2. After a rather tough play, Germany's Malte Schiele got a free kick in the 31st minute. In the 32nd play minute Ermanno Zoff came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Tommy Kahn. 2-2. 35 minutes into the match, Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Ermanno Zoff. 36 minutes into the game, Chris Mergenthaler threw the ball into play from the sideline. Feyli Ragazzi's Davide Cerasoli quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. After a rather tough play, Germany's Chris Mergenthaler got a free kick in the 37th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Tommy Kahn came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by Feyli Ragazzi's Ermanno Zoff. But to his dismay, Ermanno Zoff quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 3-2. Ermanno Zoff blasted a shot towards the goal in the 55th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Tommy Kahn having to make a save. A collision led to Germany getting a freekick after 61 minutes play. Albin Holweck hit a great ball. In the 62nd minute, Arrigo Antonini got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 64th minute, Arrigo Antonini hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 71 minutes into the game, Feyli Ragazzi's Arrigo Antonini nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Tommy Kahn made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-2. After 75 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Feyli Ragazzi! In the 82nd minute, Ermanno Zoff got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 84th minute, Arrigo Antonini made a precise shot to the right of Tommy Kahn. Germany's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 5-2. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ermanno Zoff in the 95th minute of play forced Germany's goalkeeper Tommy Kahn to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 97 minutes into the game, Chris Mergenthaler threw the ball into play from the sideline. Feyli Ragazzi's Adriano Fontana quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion.
